Job Description

  • The role of competence system Technical /Business Mentor is to act as a Professional Discipline Learning and Development Resource to all Junior Employees in that Discipline during their development to Independent Status.

  • To support Line Management in their roles and responsibilities to coach and develop Juniors in the work place ; to verify and ensure Discipline-specific technical standards of the competence system's training and development are being met competence gaps identified  and eliminated , and manages Professional Discipline Knowledge Network within the company

  • Establishes and maintains a network of Professional Subject Matter Experts in order to optimize and promote continous learning for higher performance.




Principal Accountabilities:
 



  • Acts as a Professional Discipline Mentor to all Juniors in that discipline and their Line Managers with a focus on motivating , counselling and supporting them in their learning and development roles and responsibilities.

  • Provides off-job coaching and training events in selected Discipline to Juniors up to Independent status who require competency development in that Discipline.

  • Oversees the Juniors' Off-Jobs Training Plan for Discipline to ensure the training is delivered at the right stage of the Juniors development and meets the standards of the competence systems. Evaluates such training and recommends changes where necessary.

  • Contributes to identification of cases for High Potential and accelerated development for talent pipeline and to resolution of cases of poor performance , redirectionn, disciplinary action of Juniors in Professional Discipline.

  • Follows up with Line Managers to ensure the competence system and training for the Discipline are applied in accordance with agreed  policy , practice & standards and Individual Development Plans and activities for the Junior are delivered and meet company demands.

  • Ensure effective follow-up of Discipline Juniors from point of entry to final Intergration and Independent Status and the tracking of their areas of improvement and devises programmes of remedial action and gap elimination accordingly in conjunction with Line Managers.





Principal Accountabilities:




  • Supports and helps the Line in their On-Job coaching responsibilities through preparations of learning materials , advice and recommendations based on the requirements of the competence system and training Acts as Internal Verifier and Independent Observer of Assessment and Verification Procedure for Discipline

  • Participates in External Verification in other branches as required.

  • Ensures effective follow -up of Discipline Juniors from point of entry to final Integration and Independent Status and the tracking of their areas of improvement and devises programmes of remedial action and gap elimination accordingly in conjunction with Line Managers.

  • Provides career counselling and professional development advice for Discipline Juniors upto Independent status, including membership of professional bodies , access to knowledge networkss and learning resources.

  • Responsible for maintaining specific Discipline Knowledge Network within the company for the benefit of knowledge-sharing and development of professionals within that Discipline.Communicates and shares information and developments with other branch networks and Group Skill pool adviser for that discipline.

  • Identifies , and utilizes oppurtunities for learning in the work-place through continous communication with LIne and other branches through technical networking.

  • Assist in Discipline -specific Junior development assignments and attachments within the company and externally with third parties.

  • Maintains a systematic reporting on all Professional Discipline Junior employees development performance and progress up to achievement of Independent status.


Provides off-shore coaching and training events in selected Discipline to Juniors up to Independent status who require competency development in that Discipline.
Qualifications Degree in a relevant professional discipline which is a core professional discipline of company's business, professional experience acquired through a successful career in the operational Upstream Oil Industry.
Proven skills and a motivation to train mentor and develop others in professional discipline
Experience in Competency Assurance and HR Development Methods and Practices.
Minimum 10 years relevant experience, which includes exposure to HR Development, practices Proficient in English, particularly the ability to coach and prepare learning materials
